Lack of Red Bull race pace means points rather than podiums become the target and scores 21 to finish 11th overall. Qualifying form excellent as usual and secures the team's first-ever front-row grid slot (at Silverstone). Retained for 2009.

2007

Poor reliability makes for a largely frustrating first season at Red Bull, with regular top-ten qualifying performances rarely translating to points. Highlight is a third place at the Nurburgring. Finishes 12th overall on 10 points.

Endures tough second season with Williams. After retiring from more races than he finishes, scores just seven points. Signs to Red Bull for 2007.

Lack of Williams competitiveness blunts debut season with British team. Shines in qualifying with seven top-five grid slots, but race performances less consistent, a third in Monaco his sole podium appearance.

Difficult final season with Jaguar. Scores seven of the team's ten points. Highlight a second on the grid in Malaysia. Signs for Williams for 2005.

Debut with Minardi. Dream start as he scores fifth place in his first ever race. Puts in impressive performances through the rest of the season.

Second overall in the FIA International Formula 3000 championship having taken three wins. Becomes a Benetton Formula One test driver.

Third in the FIA International Formula 3000 championship with the Eurobet Arrows team.
